IP Mesh
Flexible communication without fixed infrastructure
IP Mesh networks connect multiple mobile participants in a shared wireless communications network.
Unlike conventional point-to-point radio links, mesh systems can forward data through several radio nodes. Each suitably configured participant can act both as an endpoint and as a relay.
Modern mesh systems can adapt their routes dynamically. If a connection fails, the network can use another route when alternative radio links are available.
The benefits of IP Mesh
- Self-organising network structures
- Communication without central infrastructure
- Extended radio coverage through multi-hop links
- Simultaneous transport of video, audio, data and control information
- Integration of mobile and stationary participants
- Support for vehicles, drones and mobile teams
Typical applications
IP Mesh is used where communications networks need to be deployed flexibly and adapted to changing operating conditions.
Applications include public safety organisations, mobile video surveillance, uncrewed systems, vehicles and industrial operations.
Elbstone supports the selection and integration of suitable mesh technologies, from individual radio links to complex mobile networks.
